About Carbon-Free Commute

We are a PTSA group helping and encouraging everyone in the MVHS community get to school in a healthy, fun and environmentally-friendly way.

Why?

-- Minimize carbon and other pollutants in our community

-- Reduce automobile congestion around our campus

-- Normalize daily activity so that students can get started on a life-long habit of fitness

-- Instill a sense of self-reliance and independence in students

-- Reduce parking requirements at the school*

-- Morning activity is a great way for students to better concentrate and be successful academically

How?

-- Provide information about carbon-free commuting options

-- Promote bike and pedestrian safety

-- Distribute bikes, helmets and locks to MVHS students in need

-- Advocate for bike lanes and safe streets that encourage walking and biking to school

-- Help everyone in whatever way we can!

You can help!

We are looking for volunteers for these events in 2020:

possible Earth Day event -- sometime in April

Carbon-Free Commute Day on Thursday May 14

Email us if you can help out -- it takes very little time and even if you can volunteer just once it would be hugely appreciated!

* With rapidly increasing enrollment, space is at a premium and if fewer people drive to school, space currently used for automobile storage can be reclaimed for more productive uses.
