This was a junk-food novel read. It was fun and predictable. The novel discusses stardom and the misogyny of Hollywood through Lovecraftian themes. However, it was not a unique take nor compelling.
The scenes where Farrah becomes a monster are vivid. The gory murders are fascinatingly depicted. However, I was not impressed by the illustrations and coloring of the characters. Farrah was not believable as a washed-up star as her clothes and hair were flat and uninteresting. Maybe that was the intention, but I continually did not sympathize with Farrah or her evolution throughout the story. Futhermore, I did not find Kaydon believable in how she acted or spoke. Despite the monster theme, most characters were one-dimesional.
