Episode 331 and 332 of The Last Podcast on the Left are about the Donner expedition of 1984 that never quite made it through the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California.

I am familiar with the mountain range and Donner Pass in California which is why I was so interested in this case. I heard about it in detail for the first time on this podcast. The two hosts do an amazing amount of research for every episode. It's incredible the amount of books and sources they consult to create every episode. For this case, there was no difference. They consult many primary sources. They read a lot of original accounts such as journals or diaries.

Secondly, while what happened to the Donner party was truly gruesome, they made it so funny! They have a very fluid dynamic. I don't want to give any of it away but it's truly worth a listen if true crime is something you already like. It is a good first episode if you are trying out this podcast.
