This is our flagship program because supporting youth is what all of our programs are about. Everyone talks about leaving the planet a better place for our kids but we should also leave better kids for our planet. We support children primarily in Murambi II village in the Kasese district in western Uganda. This is a small community without electricity where humanist values make a huge positive impact.
These are the goals and activities of MYHO:
➤ Empower the youth with life skills because teaching a career to local citizens will nourish and promote responsible parenting.
➤ Alleviate poverty with practical training like computer skills and beekeeping.
➤ Keep the youth busy and away from the dangerous streets of Murambi by providing a place to work and learn which prevents drug and alcohol use.
➤ Instill in the youth a spirit of helpfulness and a sense of responsibility and ownership for the actions they undertake and to develop their citizenship and involvement in their communities.
➤ Provide learning opportunities through social and academic support for in-school students.
➤ Build strong relationships with organizations that share our aims and objectives, thereby further increasing the capacity of young people to build on their skills and attitudes for their own personal growth and their community's long term success and development.
➤ To encourage the spirit of saving money and building credit in order to support themselves and their families.
