“Discussing recent U.S. foreign policy decisions and their impact on international relations, trade, security, and global stability. (Freeze Date: 27 February 2026) ”
The United States Congress is one of the most influential legislative bodies, responsible for making laws and granting approvals that impact foreign policy, international agreements, sanctions, defence spending, and trade regulations which shape the position of the United States in global affairs.
At this edition of THSVK MUN, delegates will debate recent US foreign policy decisions and their impact on international relations, trade, security, and global stability. A major part of this discussion revolves around the heated rivalry between the United States and China regarding disputes over trade restrictions, technological developments, and influence in the Indo-Pacific region. Tensions between these two nations have increased due to the disputes over Taiwan and military activities in the South China Sea. Due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, U.S foreign policy has evolved significantly as it has provided sanctions and military assistance to Ukraine, supporting its allies.
The United States has also strengthened its relations with NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation). However, these actions have caused immense tensions between Russia and Western countries, and debates regarding the shift in power dynamics in Europe. The Middle East remains a vital area of concern for US foreign policy as the United States support for Israel, response to Iran’s regional influence, and actions regarding threats to maritime routes such as the Red Sea have shaped international debates.
Beyond these conflicts, U.S economic policies such as tariffs, sanctions, and export restrictions continue to affect international markets.
Debates continue over whether these policies help sustain stability or create further political and economic crises.
We invite delegates to step into this engaging and diplomatic discussion, where innovation, critical thinking, and creativity will help navigate, address, and shape the future of global relations.
