The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) serves as the premier global forum where member states, regardless of their size or wealth, come together to address the world’s most pressing security, environmental, and diplomatic challenges. As climate change accelerates at unprecedented rates, the global gaze has turned toward the northernmost frontier of our planet: the Arctic. What was once an inaccessible landscape of ice and isolation is rapidly transforming into a highly contested geopolitical arena, posing a severe threat to global stability.

As the ice sheets recede, new, lucrative shipping routes are emerging, alongside access to vast, untapped natural resources and maritime trade avenues. This environmental transformation has ignited a fierce race for sovereignty among global superpowers, leading to a dangerous wave of militarization in a region previously defined by peace and scientific cooperation. With naval deployments increasing, borders being contested, and military installations expanding, the Arctic is no longer just an environmental warning sign, it has become a geopolitical flashpoint.
