About Muftiah

Challenges are opportunities for growth, and they are an inherent part of our human experience.  What inspires your search for a therapist or consultant will be unique to you.  Ultimately, my job is to help you grow.  I have been working in the mental health field since 2000. The aspects of human growth that I am most skillful at helping you with are in the areas of healing childhood emotional wounds, which often manifest as depression, anxiety, and relationship difficulties, and in supporting parents in navigating their children’s behavioral and emotional challenges.  I am also passionate about supporting other therapists to expand their toolset for supporting families with children. My approach is attachment-oriented and emotion-focused and is informed by extensive experience and training in the universal experience of grief and loss, trauma-informed care, and child development.  I have worked in community agencies, schools, hospices, and in private practice. I have a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in California (2002) and a Certification in Hand in Hand Parenting (2015).  I have post-graduate training in EMDR, DNMS, Healing Shame, and Attachment Theory.  I hold a license to practice Marriage and Family Therapy in California (LMFT 42222) and in Hawaii (MFT-885).  It is my honor and pleasure to support your personal or professional journey of growth and healing.
