Over the next two terms, you will be writing a position paper. You will need to:
research the topic
take a stance
address the counterargument
provide credible sources
create a works cited page
type the essay in MLA 8 format.
We will take the paper in smaller chunks. By the end of term 3, you should have one side of the position thoroughly researched and written. In term 4, you will address the counterargument and turn your essay into a speech.
For each of the suggested topics, I have included a possible Boolean Search Term. With Boolean Search Terms, we combine two ideas with "and" to get more relevant results. Phrases can be put in quotation marks to make sure you get results with the exact phrase.
When you click on the topic, you will be taken to an article to help you get your research started.
If you're having trouble finding your topic, try pairing it with the word "debate"
