As far as I can remember, I've always loved music. I started piano lessons at 5, sang in school and church choirs, led children's choir as a high school student, sang in all the choirs at my high school, and was a bit of a theater "nerd." Music has always been that safe haven to go to, a place and way to express myself, and a source of joy and comfort.
I attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, focusing on Voice Performance and Music in Special Education. I've also sung in various bands across many genres - 70s funk/disco, reggae, jazz, pop, R&B, classical, choral - you name it, I've probably tried it!
To me, it is a privilege to be a Music Educator. Looking back on how my own music teachers helped shape me and open my eyes to a world that I now call home, it makes me want to do the same for my students.
