I take a proactive approach to behavior management in my classroom and am heavily influenced by Love and Logic and PBIS. Students are front-loaded with all of the classroom routines, procedures, and expectations they need to be successful. We then revisit these lessons throughout the year using consistent language and reinforcement.
I have included my discipline policy below so you can have a better understanding of how behavior issues are handled in my classroom. Should a student consistently engage in unexpected behavior, I will notify you ASAP and we will communicate about next steps and any additional behavior supports that may be necessary.
When students make poor choices, we use it as a chance to teach responsibility. They must be honest about the behavior and work through a logical consequence. Students never lose their earned points or privileges. It is not my job to punish your children, but to teach them. Students will also never lose any recess time due to behavior unless safety is an issue
