Parents should expect that all tasks are to be completed during class time. Students will be informed of the expectation that when they work hard in class, they will not have homework. This will be communicated on the first day of classes and students will be reminded of this policy often. Any material that is necessary for the progression of education and is not finished in class will be expected to be completed on the student's own time. All homework that students take home will have started it previously in class, so they should have all of the knowledge, skills, and materials necessary to complete homework efficiently. I believe completing necessary assignments (in class or out of class) will scaffold students to ultimately master each of the state standards for their grade level. Some assignments will be graded for completion while others will need to be graded for knowledge. This is to ensure your child is meeting the standards to be prepared for the next grade level!
During this transition from Elementary School to Middle School, parents are encouraged to email me with any urgent questions, comments, or concerns. I promise to strive for timely responses during school times; Monday through Friday from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm. I will respect your concerns and I ask you to also respect my time that is not spent in school.
