TEAM LYSIS

Reflecting on Team LYSIS’ face-to-face presentation about authentic assessment and developing the scoring rubric, I discovered it was both engaging and informative. 

Their presentation explained the meaning of authentic assessment and how it focuses on real-world tasks and practical applications. I learned that authentic assessments help students demonstrate their understanding by solving problems or creating projects that are meaningful and relevant. The team also shared different methods and tools used for authentic assessment, such as performance tasks, portfolios, and observations, which gave me practical ideas I can use in the future. 

They also discussed the importance of developing a scoring rubric, which provides clear criteria for evaluating students’ work. I appreciated how they explained that a good rubric helps ensure fairness and consistency in grading. They even provided examples of well-structured rubrics and explained how to align the criteria with the learning objectives, which made the topic easy to understand. 

During the presentation, I liked how Team LYSIS made the discussion interactive by asking the class for examples and opinions. Their use of real-life scenarios and clear visuals helped simplify complex ideas. It was great to see how they encouraged everyone to think critically about the topic and share their thoughts.

 One thing that stood out to me was their emphasis on the connection between authentic assessment and rubrics. They showed how a well-made rubric can guide students in understanding expectations and performing better in assessments. This helped me see how the two tools work together to support meaningful learning. 

Overall, I think Team LYSIS did an excellent job presenting their topic. Their discussion gave me a deeper understanding of how authentic assessment and scoring rubrics can make learning more effective and meaningful. I’m grateful for their effort and the insights they shared, which will definitely help me as I prepare for my future role as an educator.
