Looking back on our team’s online presentation about Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and Assessment, focusing on “Learning Outcomes: Sources and Characteristics,” I feel proud of the effort we put into making it a success.
Preparing for the presentation gave us a better understanding of OBE, which focuses on what students should learn and achieve by the end of a course. We learned how assessments are used to check if students reach these goals. Each member of Team SMART worked hard to research and organize the information, making sure our presentation was clear and meaningful.
One of the main points we explained was how to create good learning outcomes. We shared that learning outcomes should be SMART – specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound – which matched our team’s name perfectly. This made our presentation feel more personal. We also explained why learning outcomes should be clear and directly connected to the skills students need to learn. This helps teachers plan lessons and assessments that match the goals.
During the virtual presentation, I really enjoyed how our team worked together and how our classmates joined the discussion. We used examples and activities to make the topic easier to understand and more interesting. It was great to see our classmates share their thoughts and ask questions, especially when we talked about the challenges of connecting assessments to learning outcomes and how to solve them.
We did face some challenges, like keeping our presentation detailed but not too long. It was also a bit nerve-wracking to answer questions on the spot, but this taught us to think quickly and work as a team. These experiences showed me how important it is to be well-prepared and open to learning from others.
Overall, reporting as Team SMART was a great experience. It taught me the value of teamwork, clear communication, and careful planning. I also feel more confident about using OBE in teaching and writing learning outcomes that help students succeed. This experience will definitely help me grow as a future educator.
I’m thankful for my teammates’ hard work and our classmates’ participation, which made this virtual presentation a positive and memorable experience.
