The School Dog Network
Mreža Šolski pes združuje vzgojno-izobraževalne ustanove, ki v svoje delo redno vključujejo delovanje šolskega psa. Delo je sistematično, načrtovano, dokumentirano in evalvirano.
Skupina vzgojno-izobraževalnih delavcev, ki s(m)o hkrati vodniki terapevtskih psov, je v sodelovanju s strokovnjaki Zavoda RS za šolstvo oblikovala prvi slovenski Koncept vključevanja šolskega psa v vzgojno-izobraževalni proces. Dokument je rezultat večletnega dela s terapevtskimi psi v vzgoji in izobraževanju. Delo je prva leta potekalo tudi v okviru Inovacijskih projektov Zavoda RS za šolstvo in je zasnovano v skladu s Konceptom odprtega učnega okolja.
Mreža formalno deluje od januarja 2017.

Pojasnilo
V okviru mreže opredelimo pojem šolski pes. Poudarjamo, da lahko to postane le pes, ki je primernega značaja, zdrav, usposobljen in preverjen. Te pogoje izpolnjujejo terapevtski psi.
Delo terapevtskih psov v Sloveniji še ni zakonsko urejeno. Zato posamezniki prihajajo v različne ustanove tudi brez ustreznih znanj in dokazil. Za njihovo verodostojnost ne jamči nihče, prav tako ni zagotovil, da je pes zdrav in primeren za tovrstno delo. Čeprav verjamemo, da gre večinoma za dobronamerne in kompetentne posameznike, ki so pogosto odlični strokovnjaki z izjemnimi psi, takega ravnanja v skrbi za varnost ne podpiramo.

Mreža šolski pes ne prevzema odgovornosti za morebitne negativne posledice, ki bi jih imelo delo s psom v šoli. Opozarja na skrajno previdno ravnanje ob zavedanju, da je še tako krotek in šolan pes še vedno žival, ki lahko ravna nepredvidljivo. Poziva k ljubečemu, spoštljivemu in obzirnemu ravnanju s psom.

The School Dog Network
The School Dog Network is a network consisting of the educational institutions, which regularly include a school dog in their work. The work is systematic, planned, documented and evaluated.
In collaboration with the experts of the National Education Institute Slovenia, a group of educational professionals who handle therapy dogs has founded the first Slovene concept of introducing a school dog into the educational process. The concept is the result of multi-annual work with therapy dogs. At the beginnings the work was conducted within the framework of Innovation projects of the National Education Institute and it has been based on the Concept of the Open Learning Environment.
The network has formally been started since January 2017.
Clarification
The network defines the term school dog emphasizing that only a dog of suitable character, health, ability and background can become a school dog. Therapy dogs meet these requirements.
The work of therapy dogs has not yet been regulated by law in Slovenia. Consequently, it happens that different individuals visit various institutions without appropriate knowledge or certificates. Their credibility is not vouched by anyone nor is there any guarantee that the dog is healthy and competent for working in school. Even though we believe such individuals act in good faith and deem themselves competent and are also often great experts with exceptional dogs, we do not support such doings in concern of safety.

We cannot emphasize enough the importance of a careful approach when working with a school dog as the dog is after all an animal that can act unpredictably. We call for a loving, respectful and considerate treatment of the dog.
