Happy Fathers Day!
Origins
I grew up in the Springville area and lived there until I left for my mission in Kobe, Japan. While I was in Japan, my mom moved up to Midvale, so when I returned, I joined her up here. It wasn't long after getting home that I met my husband, Carson, at the Midvale YSA ward. Shortly after we married, we moved to our current home here in West Jordan.
On the Work Front
Before having kids I worked as a case worker at various agencies. I was able to help clients find homes, food, jobs, and connect with people that could help them become stable and independent again. It was a challenging job, but very rewarding! Once I had my first daughter, in 2020, I decided to quit and be a stay at home mom! It is also a challenging job, but the reward is well worth it.
Interests and Hobbies
I love to read (mostly fantasy), play video games (mostly Zelda), do jigsaw puzzles (the bigger the better!), bake (I'm always looking for someone to pawn off cookies to, so let me know if you have a sweet tooth), and crochet!
Something Unique
I have a Guinness World Record for the largest Duct Tape collection! It might sound impressive, but it was actually super easy to get. I still like to brag about it though.
Favorite Tradition
Since having kids we have been able to come up with a lot of new traditions every year! I can't say I have a favorite, but I love when the kids remember something from previous years and ask to do it again. It's fun creating memories and traditions with them.
Challenging Times
Serve a mission. It was hard and challenging, but I loved it! I am so grateful for the chance I had to learn and grow!
Favorite Memory
I can't say this is my favorite memory, but it's a memory I recently shared with my family and it makes me laugh, and cringe, every time I think of it: When I was about 10, my family had a giant bucket of sugar in our pantry. One day I went to get sugar out of the giant bucket to refill the sugar container in our kitchen and I found that one of our cats had peed in it. Well, due to the fact that all the pee clumped together, I figured if I just scooped that part out and threw it away then the rest of the sugar would be good. So I just scooped out that bit and we all kept using it. My family only recently found out about this, but luckily, they all still like me.
One Last Thing
Fun fact: I was named after the Star Trek character Salia. My parents heard the name, loved it, and came up with their own spelling since they couldn't just Google it back then. Live long and prosper!
