Happy Fathers Day!
Origins
I was born in Saint George, Utah however, I did not spend much of my life there. We moved 3 times while I was in Saint George. Then while I was still an infant, we moved to Henderson, Nevada. I also did not spend a lot of time there. We lived in 1 house in Henderson, then moved to Las Vegas where we lived in 3 different houses. From there I moved to Washington where I lived in 3 houses. Then, we moved to Utah. I lived in 1 house in Springville, 1 in Provo, 2 in Orem, 3 in West Jordan and 1 in West Valley all before even finishing High School. Since being married, we have lived in 2 houses in West Valley, 1 in Murray, and 2 in West Jordan. We have now been living in this house for 18 years.
On the Work Front
I am currently in Graduate school at BYU getting a master’s degree in Spanish Pedagogy. I also teach Spanish at BYU. I would love the opportunity to be the language specialist at a nearby school district office.
Interests and Hobbies
I love to sing, hike, bike ride, lift weights and spend time with my family.
Something Unique
I love to sing. I am learning and doing well in Portuguese. I served in the Utah Army National Guard as a medic for 8 years. I also worked at Gold Cross Ambulance as an EMT when I was a young woman.
Traditions
I love that we read from the bible on Christmas morning before opening gifts. We read from the bible on Easter morning as well before doing Easter baskets.
Challenging Times
Probably being a mom but it is also the most rewarding thing I have ever done.
A Favorite Memory
Back during the time I had recently met my husband Curtis, we worked together at Target. We often ate lunch together and one particular day, he was eating his usual “nutritious” lunch of Junior Mints and Dr. Pepper and he accidentally dropped one of his Junior Mints and couldn’t see where it had fallen. We finished eating lunch and stood up to go back to work and to my delight and his horror, he had sat on it right in the best stop of his bum. We laughed so hard. But what was even funnier was he pulled his pants up as high as they could go and untucked his shirt so his shirt would cover the chocolate spot.
One More Thing
Curtis and I have been married for 22 years. We have 3 kids: Caleb who is 21, works at the UofU Neurology clinic and is currently working on his EMT-A license. Zachary is 18 and is graduating this year, and Katelynn is in 9th grade. I love my family very much.
