Messsage

I chose to become a researcher because I was fascinated by the way genes work (transcription), but recently I have been interested in phenomena that cannot be explained by gene expression alone, especially from the perspective of metabolism and metabolites. In the past 30 years, the genomes of many species have been fully elucidated, and much information about genes and their regulatory mechanisms has been stored in databases. We are going to dig what the databases do not tell us! This is the most important proposition. I feel very happy to have found a job that I can now devote my life to.

I am challenging to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of transcriptional regulation mainly using biochemical methods. In particular, I would like to focus on transcription factors involved in environmental responses, including NRF2.

Message

After graduating from university, I worked as a respiratory physician after my initial training. During this time, I was involved in the treatment of many lung cancer patients and became interested in the molecular mechanisms that exist behind refractory cancers, which led me to enter the world of research. Although I still have a ways to go, I am still seeking to unravel the hidden molecular mechanisms behind refractory cancers and drug resistance so that I can lead to breakthrough treatments.
