5911 Mean Green Machine

Our Mission

Our mission as 5911 Mean Green Machine is to spark an interest in STEM-related projects among students of all ages and grades. Since most of our members have years of experience on hand, we always aspire to help anyone who is in need of it; this is best exemplified by our team which is always ready to help other teams by teaching them basic programming, lending them supplies, and offering constructive criticism on their robot’s design. We believe that helping others—especially newer teams—is a major priority because we want those teams to enjoy FTC to its fullest potential. Furthermore, we offer those teams help because we know from past experience that the best way to improve from year to year is to learn from the knowledge of others who have faced similar challenges. Our team loves showcasing robotics as a fun experience that anyone can be a part of through community outreach and hopes to inspire as many students as possible into pursuing their dream of working in the STEM field.  Check us out here!

What have we done?

Montwood Robotics help a tool workshop at the beginning of the year and we taught our new members how to safely use the tools by creating a mouse out of wood.

Our team was invited to UIL State for FTC robotics to represent Montwood Robotics and we placed in the Finalist Alliance in our division.

For homecoming, all Montwood teams got together to make this large Wall-E themed wall for the theme "Magical World of Montwood" being Disney themed.

How it's going

We held a booth at the Kermes carnival at St. Marks Church.

During our Thanksgiving break, we held a week-long camp to teach kids the basics of programming and Arduino.

We helped out girl scout troops with achieving their programming patches by teaching them FLL block programming.
