Computer-Aided Design

CAD (Computer-Aided Design) is a beneficial program that allows builders to model a 3d version of the design before the robot is built. The goal of constructing the robot in CAD is a large undertaking, often taking many dozens of hours to complete a model for a full robot. But a large investment always has something to return. With the model, it becomes possible to check for mechanical errors such as there not being enough space to fit a mechanism inside a specified space or finding out a pulley system never had a chance to work. Montwood Robotics takes pride in doing CAD models of their robotics for not just FTC but FRC as well.
