Lauren Campbell (she/her)
I'm a print-maker based in New Mexico. After working in a variety of mediums, I found the most satisfaction in creating prints using both etching and relief processes. Etching affords me the opportunity to express in detail and the vibrant colors I use in relief printing adds interest to the pieces. I'm always interested in finding new or different techniques to include in my work; I have found by running crinkled paper through the printing press forms a pleasing background. I am always looking for a new result by using unusual paper for different results.
I find inspiration in nature when creating my art pieces. Animals appear often as the subject of my work. I aim for my appreciation of animals to show through in my work. I am drawn into my work as I work to mirror th eunique animal characteristics into each project. I find myself reflecting on the animal's life experiences as I am working; whether it is the weathering of a turtle's shell thru facing nature's elements like hibernation in the mud, or a dog's pleading eyes.
