The Inheritance Games

by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

  • Avery Grambs has a plan for a better future: survive high school, win a scholarship, and get out. But her fortune changes in an instant when billionaire Tobias Hawthorne dies and leave Avery virtually his entire fortune. The catch? Avery has no idea why--- or even who Tobias Hawthorne is.

  • To receive her inheritance, Avery must move into the secret passage-filled Hawthorne House, a house that is still occupied by his overlooked family. Avery must navigate her new world of wealth and privilege, with danger from his family at every turn.

Quotes:

"He left you the fortune, Avery, and all he left us is you- Jennifer Lynn Barnes, The Inheritance Games

"I will always protect you" he told me, his jaw tight, his eyes shadowed. "You deserve to feel safe in your own home. And I'll help you with the foundation. I'll teach you what you need to know to take this life like you were born to it. But this...us..." He swallowed. "It can't happen, Avery. I've seen the way Jamerson looks at you." - Jennifer Lyn Barnes, The Inheritance Games.

"If there's one thing the Hawthorne family isn't, it's fine. They were a twisted, broken mess before you got here, and they'll be a twisted, broken mess once you're gone."- Jennifer Lynn Barnes, The Inheritance Games.

I was not able to put this book down! For fans who enjoy a good mystery with a little sprinkle of a love triangle. This book will not disappoint and will leave you impatiently waiting for book 2!

To hunt them, you couldn't be afraid to follow. And the only way to destroy them was to have the sharper teeth and the darker heart." Alexandra Bracken, Lore

This book is Percy Jackson meets Hunger Games! I was somewhat surprised by the violent tendencies of the gods but with its fast-paced action and plot twists, Lore was impossible to put down. Perfect for readers who enjoy Greek Mythology and a suspenseful tale. I highly recommend.
