Educators
Educators can collaborate by working on a Team and sharing notebooks, curriculum, and students information.
Students
Students can collaborate by creating and sharing their notebooks with others.
In using Microsoft OneNote, educators can facilitate collaboration by encouraging the students to work together using shared digital spaces such as the Colloboration Space.
"The Collaboration Space is open to everyone in a class, and all class members can read or write on anything in this part of the notebook. Teachers and students can also create new sections and pages in ways that work best for them" (Microsoft OneNote).
"CrossActionSpaces provide various offline and online ‘rooms’ for social interaction and communication within one physical location at the same time" (Jahnke, 2015). Microsoft OneNote allows educators to facilitate collaboration, by creating a space for students to work together and to share ideas regardless of their physical location. Using Microsoft OneNote, gives educators the ability to fully utilize "CrossActionSpaces," (Jahnke, 2016), by encouraging social interaction via technology.
The photo to the left is an example of how students can collaborate ideas and concepts using the Collaboration Space built into Microsoft OneNote. "Collaborative writing can occur in either synchronous (real time) or asynchronous (with time delay) settings" (Howland, et al., 2012). In the example on the left, the students can participate in collaborative writing while also engaging with their instructor. The way in which the student collaborates with others can be directed by the instructor or communicated within the group (instructor or group decides on whether to collaborate synchronously or asynchronously).
Microsoft OneNote can be used along with the learning management system: Microsoft Teams
