Separation & Concentration
Separation & Concentration
Physical separation operations are required to concentrate valuable minerals from an ore. The specific operations that are involved in our projects are gravity separation through hydrocyclones and froth flotation. The former is used to separate minerals by size or density, so its product consists of minerals of a certain size range, which will be fed to the next operation. The latter encompasses the use of chemical reagents to make target minerals float, separating them from gangue. As such, we study various process and geometric parameters in order to achieve high recoveries and concentration ratios of the valuable minerals.
