Metallurgical processes require adequate effluent treatment to ensure their net environmental sustainability and their compliance with national regulations. As a result, this research branch aims to reduce the concentration of pollutants within waste streams. Additionally, we will consider the possibility of further recovery of precious metals from effluents. To achieve these tasks, physicochemical and physicomechanical separation technologies will be studied, including sedimentation, coagulation, flocculation, adsorption processes, as well as considering biological treatments.
