Airdrop to Newborns

July 4, 2024

Six months have passed since Todac Todac, an airdrop initiative for newborns, was launched. Now is the time to assess the first half of 2024.

South Korea’s birth rate, the lowest in the world at 0.78, is expected to decline further to as low as 0.61 in the coming years. At this fertility rate, there will be fewer than six great-grandchildren for every 100 Koreans, resulting in a projected 94% population collapse over the next century. The decline accelerates with each successive generation as fewer children go on to have even fewer kids. Unless something is done to reverse this trend, South Korea’s future looks bleak.

While this initiative alone may not be sufficient to turn the tide, it’s better than nothing. It is certainly good news for everyone in the community. As more and more parents receive Mobick, this project inches closer to mass adoption. Although the South Korean government has been hostile to crypto projects, they can’t refuse a plan to give free crypto assets to newborns, especially since all their previous efforts to boost the birth rate have failed.

The project team’s plan is as follows: every child born in Korea this year receives 1 MO, in 2025 they will receive 0.5 MO, and in 2026, 0.25 MO. Approximately 440,000 BTCMobick coins will be distributed among 800,000 newborn babies. The project team launched PR campaigns and spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to make the public aware of their efforts.

The coins are distributed from the address below:

According to Mobick Explorer(http://blockchain2.mobick.info/), it appears that more than 130 coins have been distributed. I could be wrong because the plan began somewhat hurriedly at the end of last year and many things have changed. If 130 to 200 is the right number, you could say it’s a publicity failure. They spent their budget for almost nothing. The number should be at least five digits, like 13,000.

What you need to know about this whole project is that a civilian successfully created money, like what Satoshi Nakamoto did 15 years ago. This civilian, named Oh, is excluding countless people while giving out his money to a select few. His goal is not to equally distribute what he created to everyone in the world; he wants to exclude many people and use their FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) to fuel the success of his project. You might say it’s unlikely, but I have witnessed a media company worth around $100 million and two of the top five universities in Korea accept his terms in less than a year. It’s difficult for an established company to accept crypto in a crypto-unfriendly environment, but it is even more difficult to watch their competitor snatch up what could have been theirs. For individual parents, it is frustrating to know they have been excluded from an airdrop while hundreds of others received valuable crypto for free. Do you see what’s going on? Oh is going to continue this until his 14 million MO is depleted. People need money, and there is only one crypto project giving it away for free (or for a little bit of effort).

A baby born in January this year can’t receive Mobick now because the six-month registration period has passed. Babies born in February will be excluded at the end of July.  Imagine how a young mother would feel when she realizes she has been excluded. Her quest for a single Mobick starts from there.
