Parent Newsletter

For my SPED 330 class, I was able to create a mock newsletter that I would send to families at the beginning of the school year and throughout the rest of the year. I believe that this meets Knowledge Indicator 8D which states, "understands the benefits, barriers, and techniques involved in parent and family collaborations."

This newsletter is a snippet of what I hope to have in my future classroom. It is extremely to involve parents in the classroom. A newsletter to keep parents updated with what's going on in my classroom is going to eliminate constant questions about what we are learning about and upcoming events in the school. I learned that this is just one way I plan to communicate with families in the future.

Co-Teaching

In both placements, I had the opportunity to co-teach with other teachers. I believe this relates to Performance Indicator 8N which states, "uses effective co-planning and co-teaching techniques to deliver instruction to each student."

We took time each week to plan for our students and their needs. It was a great opportunity collaborating with other educators. It helped me learn about working with others and new teaching strategies as well. We were able to work together to support students and bounce ideas off of each other easily. This artifact is an example of how we would plan our lessons and what we were teaching each week and throughout the month. I learned a multitude of different ways I can collaborate with other educators.
