LEARNING
This lesson plan I made on volcanoes has been used for the past two semesters as an example for other teacher candidates in the education program at Trinity. Dr. Michael Dieter uses my lesson plan to show what a lesson plan should look like, with accommodations, modifications, aligning the content and formatives with the standards, and engaging activities. This was a huge accomplishment for me, and I'm glad can help future educators with writing their own unique lesson plans!
In a Science Methods class, we had a Science Club in which we taught various lessons. They eventually led and connected to a final project with 7 third and fourth-grade students. It was so much fun to collaborate and teach with two peers! For Science Club, we did projects about buoyancy and creating a boat that is able to hold pennies and still float in water. Both students and teachers enjoyed this one! On the far left are the slides we used with the students and next to it (above) is our reflection presentation for our final exam in the class. I was able to lead this class and peers as we learned together in science club.
PROJECTS
In my English Methods class, I was tasked to create my own book with a main message or theme. I decided that this book would be based on my dog in real life. I incorporated things he does in real life, while also being able to teach the main idea of the project, which was loving people in your own unique way. SEL learning is very important, and the book is all about those SEL skills. This project took a lot of time and effort, but I found a love of writing children's books. I hope to write some in the future, and I also plan to share this book to my future students as well!
Throughout my time in the classroom I have built so many relationships with some amazing students. They show their love and appreciation to me in different ways, but one of my favorites is getting notes and pictures from students. These are just small things that mean a lot to them, so in turn they mean a lot to me! I love finding these notes and pictures, and they remind me of my passion and love for teaching. My student's small gestures also remind me of why I am teaching, and I love every minute of it. These are some examples of those beautiful creations!
