Assessment

NEW: Did your child get a 1, 1+, or 2 on any outcome on their assessment? They may re-do the assessment (or that part of the assessment) after attending extra help at lunch.

December 10, 2021: Redos must be completed within two weeks of an assessment being returned (unless prior arrangements have been made with the teacher).

Assignments and Projects

Students will have ample time in class to complete all assignments as long as they are on task. Any work not finished in class is expected to be completed at home before the due date. Students may need to complete some parts of a project at home (e.g., research, gathering required materials, finishing up a presentation)

Late Assignments

All assignments and projects have due dates that should be respected. It is the students' responsibility to speak with the teacher in advance of a due date to negotiate an extension if required.

Missed Tests or Quizzes

Students must make up all missed tests and quizzes. Students will be expected to make arrangements with the teacher. It is expected that making up missed work will take priority over noon hour extra curricular activities.

Assessment and Evaluation

Some assignments will be considered more in determining the final grade, while others are more formative and are being used to identity student strengths and challenges that need further practice. Student achievement will be evaluated based on their demonstration and understanding of expected learning outcomes. Students will be assessed by a variety of methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities. Assessment strategies will include, but are not limited to:

• daily class assignments

• individual work

• formal and informal teacher observations

• conferencing

• class work/participation

• tests and quizzes

• projects

• peer evaluations

• formal presentations
