WHAT IS DENTAL TECHNOLOGY ?

Dental technology is a branch of dentistry that equips a learner with a skills to make  a variety of dental appliances such as dentures, implants, orthodontics appliances, habit breaker, dental grills, veneers, dental ceramics(porcelain) and crowns and bridges.

Dental technologists will spend most of their time in the laboratory fabricating the above named appliances with minimum interaction with patients.

It is a technical course and requires a learner to be very observant and hands on ready to do what they have been shown.

REQUIREMENTS FOR PURSUING BSc. IN DENTAL TECHNOLOGY IN MKU

DIRECT ENTRY                  

KCSE mean grade of C+ or it equivalent and C+ in mathematics or physics or physical sciences, Chemistry or Biology and English/ Kiswahili.

FOR UPGRADING.

Diploma in Dental Technology from an institution recognized by Mount Kenya University senate and have undergone 1 year mandatory internship and at least 1 year experience.

REQUIREMENTS FOR PURSUING DIPLOMA IN DENTAL TECHNOLOGY IN MKU

KCSE mean of grade C plain and C in English or Kiswahili, Chemistry or Biology and C- in either mathematics, physics, or physical sciences
