At the time of the Great Treasoṇ (“apostasy”) prophesied in Matthew 24 and 2 Thessalonians 2, a Christian will be able to recognise it and avoid helping it, by what safeguards?
Do you believe that anyone’s Bible translation or Bible teachers are immune to corruption? If you stick to your Bible translation and/or your Bible teachers, you can’t be misled into supporting the Great Treason against Christ? Even if the Great Treason runs 100 years? Even if it began in AD 1032 (around the 1000th birthday of the Church)? Are you holding to a Bible version and Bible teachers from before AD 1032?
Humanity in fact has only one guide (“kathegetes”) who shows the way of blessed and eternal fellowship and life with the Creator of all things, namely Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ, Messiah, the Good Shepherd of souls, the Lord (Matthew 23:8).
How does Christ guide? For example, how does Christ guide to the blessed rather than cursed comprehensions of holy scriptures?
The standpoint of A Guide to Misleading Bible Quotes is that Christ guides:
1. The cooperative, who show their cooperativeness by receiving the love of the truth (2 Thessalonians 2:10-12) and loving Jesus Christ by keeping His commandments (John 14:15-17).
2. Not the uncooperative. For the untaught and unsupported, all holy scriptures can be and are twisted to the uncooperative ones’ own destruction (2 Peter 3:16). For the ones who do not receive the love of the truth, but instead well esteem the injustice, God sends to them waywardness’s energy, for them to believe the Opponent’s (Satan’s) falsehood, at least during the end time and possibly only if they don’t repent (2 Thessalonians 2:10-12). (For more about the cooperative principle and competitive principle described in holy scriptures, see my article “Why is the NT ambiguous?” and articles referred to there.)
3. Through His words and commandments, which must be kept for salvation (John 5:24, 15:10-14, Hebrews 5:9).
4. Through Holy Spirit inspiration (John 14:15-17, 16:13).
5. Through heavenly, miraculous powers: signs (Mark 16:20, John 14:23), parental interventions (Hebrews 12:3-13), shocking judgements (Acts 5:1-11, 1 Corinthians 11:17-34, Revelation 2:20-23).
It’s up to you (and other witnesses than this guidebook) to look for the guiding signs, parental interventions (chastisements, “paideia”), and shocking judgements Christ uses to guide people.
It’s up to you to choose to be cooperative with Almighty God and follow through by receiving the love of the truth and showing your love of God by keeping Christ’s commandments.
It’s up to you to qualify for Holy Spirit inspiration.
This guidebook takes accountability for exposing misleading Bible quotes as much as possible, so that Christ can guide more people more easily with His word and His other methods.
Nota bene (note well): please see the article "Catastrophic Subtle Sabotage: The Case of Mistranslating Jesus's Words", where some additional (seriously) misleading Bible quotes are exposed, which have not yet been added as updates to this Guide to Misleading Bible Quotes.
