Demographic Backup for SMS

The demographic report below was presented to the public at the MISD Board of Trustees meeting on March 31, 2025. It was apparently prepared for the Board by consultants Zonda Education. The numbers should agree with numbers the district is required to submit to the Texas Education Agency.

A column has been added to these numbers to show how much of the capacity at each school was being utilized at the beginning of the 2024- 2025 school year compared to the “Design Capacity” of each school. When a similar chart was first presented last year, there was no distinction between “Design Capacity” and “Functional Capacity”. The term of art “Functional Capacity” was added because, a) the administration had found other uses for empty classrooms such as daycare and special education, and b) using “Design Capacity” made the underutilization too obvious.
