For the Spring 2024 semester, ALL students will be required to receive the COVID-19 Vaccine AND a single (1)booster dose, along with all other vaccines listed below.
Students will need these in order to complete a clinical rotation through the hospital and obtain patient contact hours. Students will need to complete the clinical hours in order to pass the EMGM 105A course and receive a certificate of completion. This is due to students coming into contact with actual patients, we are requiring the vaccine to maintain the safety of not only students, but patients and the community as well.
The EMT Program will not be accepting vaccine exemption forms. No exceptions.
Mandatory Immunizations for Miramar College EMT Program
Measles Mumps and Rubella (MMR) - 2 doses OR a Positive Blood Titer.
Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (TdaP) - Must be within the past 10 years.
Hepatitis B - 3 doses OR a Positive Blood Titer.
Varicella (Chickenpox) - 2 doses OR a Positive Blood Titer. No longer accepting history of previous illness.
Negative TB Test- Mustbe within 7 days prior to course start. If Positive, must show proof of a negative Chest X-Ray.
QuantiFERON-TB Blood tests will also be accepted, for students that are unable to have the normal skin test.
Influenza- Must be from current season.
COVID-19 Vaccine- All students must be fully vaccinatedAND obtain a booster dose from COVID-19, regardless of prior diagnosis of COVID-19.
San Diego Miramar College EMT Program will NOT be accepting vaccine exemption forms. No exceptions.
Booster dose required if it has been more than 6 months since last dose of Pfizer or Moderna or 2 months since J&J dose.

Proof of all immunizations will be uploaded into the Canvas portal when the class begins. If you have any questions please contact your instructor or you may contact EMT faculty.
Note: As a Healthcare Provider, we are required to obtain numerous vaccines and tests to not only maintain our safety, but also the safety of the community and our patients. Some patients that we come across have compromised immune systems, extensive medical conditions that can be complicated if they acquire diseases that could have been prevented.
