Summer 2025: Important Information
One of three colleges within the San Diego Community College District, San Diego Miramar College offers associate degrees, certificates of completion, and the first two years of a bachelor’s degree. Founded in 1969, and located in Mira Mesa, the college services 16,000 students annually with 72 associate degrees and 94 career technical education certificates. The College was recently voted a San Diego Favorite College in the San Diego Union Tribune’s 2017 Reader’s Poll. Miramar College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC), Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). A recent Community College Week study found that Miramar College is the nation’s 17th fastest growing community college with at least 10,000 students.

There is no minimum age required for National Certification.
You must be 18 years old to be certificated in the state of California.

These items below are required for the course. Textbooks are required for the first day as there is required reading. Extensions are possible in some cases (To be determined by your instructor.) for students that crash the class, wait-listers that add-on and bookstore availability of items.
English 47A or English 48 and English 49, each with a grade of “C” or better, or equivalent or Milestone R5 and W5. No official prerequisite course for the EMGM 105A.
EMGM 50A (0.1 units): Taken prior to the EMGM 105A. This is a certified American Heart Association BLS Provider CPR class. We suggest to take our CPR course as we also prepare students for the EMGM 105A course. 1-Day class. (Students may take a BLS Provider course elsewhere if they choose.). This will be held half online and half in-person, on the main campus.
EMGM 105A Class (7.0 units): This is the Main EMT Course. This will be hosted fully in-person, on the main Miramar Campus. The course does use Canvas, an online platform, to support instruction with assignments and exams. Zoom may be used in some circumstances to supplement curriculum.
Several Sections/Schedules Available:
4-Week Intersession: 4 days a week, 10hour/day.
8-Week summer session: 4 days a week, 4.5hour/day. Morning, Afternoon and Night classes.
16-Week semester session: 2 days a week, 4.5hour/day. Morning, Afternoon and Night classes.
16-Week semester session: 1-Day a week, 8hrs/day. Saturdays.
7-week Short Term session: 3 days a week, 8hour/day.
***EMGM 106 (0.5 units): Co-requisite for the EMGM 105A Course. Must be completed prior to the end of the SAME semester the EMGM 105A course is taken. This is a 2-day course with several sections offered. *** (Students MUST register for this class at the same time you register for the EMGM 105A course, or the mySDCCD website will not let you check out.). This will be half online and half in-person sessions.
EMGM 350 (1.0 units): This is an EMT Refresher/Recertification course. This course will provide a minimum of 24 hours of training, as per CA Title 22, Div 9, Ch 2 requires. 28-hours of CEU's are available upon request. EMT skills competency verification are also completed with this course. This will be held fully in-person, with supplement of the Canvas online resource.

Use of Intranasal (IN) Naloxone (Narcan)
EMGM 296 (1.0 unit): This is an optional tutoring class that can be taken while you take the EMGM 105A course. It is strongly suggested for students that believe they may need help. This is a 1-Day a week course for the whole semester. This will be held in-person, on the main campus.
EMGM 205 (2.5 units): Must already be an EMT. This class will prepare you to work with a Paramedic on an ALS Ambulance. Training in assisting Paramedic with Advanced Level of Care. 2days/week, 9-week course. This course has been discontinued until further notice.
