Garden Game

Overview

In garden game, the player finds themselves in a global warming apocalypse, where they find a abandoned garden centre and begin growing plants to survive.

Game Mechanics

The player will be able to take seeds from seed packets they find in the main building and plant them in the ground. The player then uses the watering can to water the plants, which means they now begin to grow. The growing time is dependant on the plant, but averages at 45 seconds. When the plant has finished growing, the shovel can then be used to dig the plant out. This will grant the player the grown fruit/veg and more seeds to use. This is important as the amount in the building is finite, so growing is necessary to survive. When a plant is fully grown, it will improve the air quality. This is important because as the game progresses, the air quality reduces, so finding which plants improve the air quality the most is encouraged. The grown produce can be eaten to regain health as it is also constantly decreasing. To add a dynamic nature to the visuals, the sun goes through a day/night cycle.

Gameplay Style

The game has a relaxed sim feel, while having elements of panic due to how fast the meters go down. However, the simple visuals and use of the classical piece Arabesque No. 1 create mystical and calming atmosphere.

Theme

The theme will be about climate change and hoping to inspire people to do their part against it.
