For the tyrant, I got the model from the model resource and used mixamo to rig it and add animations, such as walking and punching. I then again used the level sequencer to make the tyrant walk toward me and hit me.
4.Editing in After Effects
I used Keylight 1.2 to get rid of the green screen and offset the zombie to the side slightly, making it look more in place. I then used an inventory screen, by layering shapes over UI elements to make it appear similar to in-game inventory selections. I then used a mask over myself so the tyrant looked more natural in the background.
To make the you died ripple effect, I used fractal noise on a solid and used evolution and offset tween to make it seem to move. I then placed a displacement map on the you died graphic and set it to the solid layer, creating a subtle ripple effect similar to the original. I added some of the game’s ost and used kapwing to put it all together, as i find it easier to sequence clips in kapwing.
I’m quite happy with some effects, such as the inventory screen as it worked well and looked great and the pausing between camera angles, akin of loading on the ps1 originals, but the rendered green screen components didn’t look great especially when coupled with bad masking. If I were to do it again I would try and get better perspective on the UE4 Rendering to make it look as if it’s there instead of floating. I would also try to add sound effects, as due to time constraints, I couldn’t.
