Update: I will add videos to edmodo every week in line with the revision plan I've attached. This week on the study plan I asked you to continue where we stopped on 3D shapes in the chapter 12 on area and volume. I asked you to answer questions on volume and surface area for cylinders, cones and spheres. My advice to 3rd years to keep an eye on edmodo from now on. I will also turn on the comments if you need further help. If there is a problem with your current edmodo account, just join again. The class code is: rdzazy

5th Year |Plan
We are going to use this time to revise the three algebra chapters at the beginning of Book 1.
The first topic I have chosen is simultaneous equations and quadratics. These in some shape or form always come up in the leaving cert.

pg 28 Q 6, 7, 8 ,10,12,13
pg 31 Q 2, 4, 6, 9 ,10, 11, 12

Pg 40, Q1,2,4,6,8,10,12,14
2nd Yr
Wk 1 18th - 20th March
This week should be used to carry out any experiments you need and also, to finalise all the research required. (Remember you need to note any website you used in your research.) Also, be aware that you can access the cheetah example online to give you an idea of what is required.
1st Yr
Wk 1 18th - 20th March
This time will be used to research topics for the summer exam.
We will look at two topics that required extra revision from the statistics exam. Pie charts and Types of DATA.
PIE CHARTS
Before you begin these exercises it would be beneficial to look up "how to draw pie charts" on you tube. I found the "How to draw pie charts mathscast one helpful."
After you have viewed this I want you to carry out questions from your book.
Pg 208, Q 1 to 9 inclusive.
Pg 218 Q3
TYPES OF DATA
Pg 190,191 Read back over these pages and re learn the different types of DATA, make sure to have an example of each. When you are sure that you know each type of data with an example off by heart then carry out the following questions.
Pg 193 Q 1-6 inclusive
Wk 2 23rd March - 27th March
Fractions
Go back over the different types of fractions. Pg 82
From this chapter it is most important to be able to Add, Subtract, Multiply and Divide fractions. As you may remember many of you have different ways of carrying out each of these operations. Just make sure you can do them properly. As you know you can test your skills within the chapter by carrying out any of the exercises. Once you're comfortable with these operations I would like you to carry out the revision exercises on pg.97. Make sure to correct your work checking that your efforts are successful.
I would recommend you practice these operations using worksheets, these can be found on MATH-SALAMANDERS.COM
