Another project with Peter Green on guitar. This "punk" - at a pinch - band was co-founded from the ashes of an ill-fated duo named "La Savants", that never quite made it to the stage or studio. Taking only the smallest of cues from No Love Lost and The Wretched Villains, Hell in a Handbasket was all about the RAWK...that's Rock 'n' Roll with two capital fuckin' R's, maaaaaaan!
As the name suggests, chaos also loomed quite large in the HIAH philosophy. Perhaps a little too large at times, I'll confess; and I was the number one culprit in that regard, I suspect. Our shows did garner a small reputation for being rather on the "energetic" side, and I might dig out some footage as evidence in the near-ish future (archaic digital formats meaning some conversion wizardry may be in the works first)!
In the meantime have a Bandcamp link, some images - including a link to a bonus "In the Studio" folder, full of slightly inferior but nonetheless "historical" pics - and some prouder examples of my admittedly erratic lyrical output. I've also included the full six-page layout of the first EP's insert, not least of all 'cause of the sheer frigging effort put into it (later CD artwork destined to become less, erm, "ambitious")!

TIRED OF BEING ADMIRED
(Lyrics Copyright © 2005 Michael Bowser)
I’m tired of bein’ admired
So sick of bein’ loved
So weary of bein’ looked up to
Wish folks would just say, “enough is enough”
So tired of all the attention
So sick of kind intervention
So weary of havin’ such good luck
Wish people would stop givin’ such a…DAMN!
I’m tired of bein’ admired
So sick of bein’ adored
So weary of all the success
Wish I could just have a taste of bitterness
I’m tired of bein’ admired
So tired of bein’ admired
So tired of bein’ admired
SO TIRED OF BEIN’ ADMIRED!
WELCOME TO THE WASTELAND
(Lyrics Copyright © 2005 Michael Bowser)
Welcome, one and all
To the Wasteland
Welcome to the land of no opportunity
Welcome to a place with nothing to offer to you or me
Welcome to a landscape with no scenery
Welcome to the place where you’ll spend the rest of Eternity
I said
Welcome to the Wasteland
This ain’t no Graceland
This ain’t no fun place, man
Welcome to the goddamned
Wasteland
Welcome to a land with no sin or vice
Welcome to the playground where no one plays nasty or nice
Welcome to a place where no one gives criticism or advice
Welcome to the land that Fate forgot, nobody rollin’ no damn dice
I said
Welcome to the Wasteland
This ain’t no Graceland
It’s empty as Outer Space, man
Welcome to the goddamned
Wasteland
I said
Welcome to the Wasteland
Welcome to the Wasteland
Welcome to the Wasteland
WELCOME TO THE WASTELAND!
I AM WHAT I AM
(Lyrics Copyright © 2007 Michael Bowser)
I ain’t no loser
But I ain’t no winner, neither
Got equal parts o’ my Ma and Pa’s
Good and bad behaviour
I ain’t no Saint
But I ain’t no Devil, neither
Don’t wanna hurt no one
But I ain’t lookin’ to be no saviour
I am what I am
An’ that’s all I can be
I am what I am what I am
Two parts sad, one part happy
Yeah, I’m just the way the good Lord made me
Been that way since I was a little baby
Try to do good, but my intentions betray me
I’m two parts sane, and one just fuckin’ crazy
Get crazy now!
I am what I am
An’ that’s all I can be
I am what I am what I am
Two parts sad, one part happy
Two parts sad, one part happy
