Dafna Eliyahou is currently a M.Sc. student in the Department of Marine Geosciences at the University of Haifa. With a diverse academic background spanning physics, water sciences, and marine geoscience, she is passionate about exploring new interdisciplinary fields. Her current work combines her love for diving with scientific research, allowing her to delve into unique underwater environments and uncover insights about natural hazards and environmental change.
M.Sc. in Water Sciences (2021-2025, pending thesis defense), Tel-Hai Academic College, Qiryat Shemona, Israel
B.Sc. in Physics (2011-2014), Bar-Ilan University, Ramat Gan, Israel
Supervisors: Beverly Goodman-Tchernov
Dafna's research focuses on natural hazard events, as part of an ongoing project, in the Yucatán Peninsula, Mexico. By integrating marine sedimentology, paleoclimate techniques, and specialized diving skills, she will examine submerged zones in offshore and cave systems to reconstruct environmental conditions and study sea-level changes and the impacts of rapid natural disasters in this globally significant region.
