My name is Shelley Headley, Secretary, for the Mercersburg Lions Club.  My first experience with the Lions club was about 40 years ago.  I had two very young daughters. 

My youngest daughter had (and still has) an eye condition.  She desperately needed glasses.  I could not afford them.  My friend contacted the local Lions club and talked to them of the issues my daughter had and the need for glasses AND not being able to afford them.  They were so kind.  They set me up with a local store AND paid for everything so my daughter at 18 months had her first pink glasses.  I guess you could say this was 'paying it forward'.  Forty some years later I have now volunteered to be a part of a great organization that helps our community in many many ways.  I am retired now and enjoy the simple life of retirement.  In spring, summer and fall I enjoy gardening and working outside with my husband.  We have one cat that we have adopted and named her Moxie.  My husband and I enjoy volunteering for various activities in Mercersburg, but the big one of course is the Mercersburg Fair.  We enjoy meeting new friends each year and giving back to our community.
