While still supporting and providing direct service hours our purpose is to get back to the basics of our practice by engaging in a one-on-one mentorship opportunity with an educator or two at each centre. Our hope by providing this opportunity we can get back to the roots and heart of early childhood education by focusing on the meaning making of children’s play while supporting educators’ professional growth and helping ignite their passion again.
This may look like meetings, modelling, coaching and side by sides. We (ELRP) can support and demonstrate these skills in the moment side by side the educator. We can then receive feedback, share resources and support them moving forward with these skills.
Hopefully one or two educators from each site can commit to this, it will not be more work for the educator as everything that will be focused on are already a part of their role and responsibilities/ministry standards. Everything will be completed on the floor during our direct service hours and the educators working time. There will be opportunities for networking in the evenings if the interest is there.
