ENGAGEMENT
Goal for children: Every child is an active and engaged learner who explores the world with body, mind, and senses.
Program expectation: Early childhood programs provide environments and experiences to engage children in active, creative, and meaningful exploration, play, and inquiry.

This directly correlates with our Standard II: Curriculum and Pedagogy as it states in the subsection "C. Practice: 3. Use a variety of materials to intentionally create or adapt indoor and outdoor learning environments that support children’s exploration and learning" (CECE, pg. 10, 2017). Please note that the foundation of Engagement is highlighted throughout many other standards and practice guidelines throughout the document.
