Guidelines for when you have new hires shadowing you:
Ask them their learning style and try to adapt to it
Checklist is priority over socializing with coworkers and homework
If you come across things that you think should be on the checklist, let us know!
Utilize the scenario questions and even come up with your own if you finish early
Have them do common things on their own to show you they can (fold towels, radio etiquette, equipment checkout/in)
IF IT IS A CHECKOUT SHIFT - you are there for support, and they will act like they are working the shift on their own. If they have questions, need help then please provide it but the goal is to simulate as close to a "real" shift as possible
DO NOT help them on the checkout quiz. They need to illustrate their knowledge on their own
IF IT IS THEIR SECOND SHADOW MAKE SURE THEY SUBMIT 3 OPTIONS FOR THE CHECKOUT SHIFT AT THE END OF THEIR SHADOW CHECKLIST
