Equipment

Online Booking System for Equipment – Add to Cart for Desired Timeslot
Equipment can be booked for up to 1 week and can be taken home to be used for projects outside of the university grounds.
Equipment Collection & Return – 9-5pm (2-5pm optimal collection times)
Equipment has a list of contents which is checked upon collection and return.
If Equipment isn’t returned or damaged – Cost of replacement will be incurred (Indicated on website)
Be respectful of the equipment, take care of it, be particularly attentive to the weather when using electrical equipment,.
Library Information Desk – Staffed Until 9pm
*Please note: When booking recording equipment such as cameras & audio recorders, SD cards are not provided by the library so you will need to purchase your own. Be sure to email the Makerspace to confirm what size of SD card is required for the requested device, as they are not all the same, usually either micro or full sized. Please see FILE MANAGMENT for information on SD card classes and speeds.
Computers
There are two computers available to use in the Makerspace equiped with the following software:
Full Adobe Creative Suite – Premier Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, etc
Audacity
Garageband
The space is generally open from 2-5pm, however access may be available at other times if you email the Makerspace team in advance.
Media Production Labs
Greenscreen and Audio Labs, bookable for Media Production.
Media Production Labs can be booked online by students, faculty and staff, only for the purposes of Media Production. The spaces are self-service and include two Audio Labs (one PC, one Mac) for recording audio presentations or podcasts, and a Greenscreen lab, to record video or experiment with wireless VR headsets – available to borrow from the Makerspace. These rooms are fitted with CCTV.
Each of the above spaces are bookable for up to two hours per day.
Users need to attend an induction to have their student/staff ID added to the swipe on these rooms, we will be doing the induction in week 2 as part of the media course. If you are absent for the induction session you will need to book and attend your own via the following link - book an induction here.
The Media Production Labs are located on the first floor of the library.
Turn left after entrance gates. Continue straight until wood staircase – on right – . Go up one flight to floor 1. Go through recess door on right. Take two right turns. Go down corridor and the media spaces are on left after toilets. Alternative access via old library Floor 1. Lift availability.

*Please Note: Projects and files will be deleted from the computers after use, be sure to store your project and completed files on either a flash drive, hard drive or cloud storage option before you complete your recording sessions.
