22th Nov. 2020, C02 storage technologies.
A great documentary introducing C02 storage technologies. We can only emit a maximum of 330 billion tons CO2 if the rise in global temperature is to stay below 1.5 degrees Celsius, one of the key targets in the Paris agreement. We already have technologies to store CO2, which really give a chance to many traditional industries, such as refinery, steel, pipeline… to change to a certain "Green" related industries and create many opportunities in the market. The key issue is how to keep this CO2 storage business growth in a sustainable way, or in other words, finding a stable revenue stream.
The solutions to this issue cannot be easily solved. Government subsidization (from the carbon tax, and trade) is essential like the initial stage of green energy industries.
It's interesting, there were many senior people showing up in this video, especially on the research side. We need some younger faces to be in a pioneer position in this field and push it forward in an innovative and passionate way.
20th Nov. 2020, Energy storage technologies
Today, in Canada, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Jonathan Wilkinson, and Primer Minister Justin Trudeau delivered on the Government’s commitment to legislate Canada’s goal of net-zero by 2050 (net-zero emissions accountability act, bill c-12). This bill lays out a framework of accountability and transparency that ensures Canada will reach the zero-emission goal by 2050. It's also a signal that further investments will be following the net-zero emissions act in the green energy industry from both governments and companies.
Do you hear the geese also agree with this act at 2:50 in the video? :-)
5th Nov. 2020, Energy storage technologies
Most renewable energy resources such as Wind and Solar, are not easily controlled from its supplies due to the weak control of the climate and weather. Storing green energy sustainably and safely is a big challenge and requests billions of dollars in investment in the new technologies. I am hoping the current low-interest rate and coming up pro-clean energy legislation will boom the growth of those new technologies. Which energy storage technologies are more practical in the future?
