24th May. 2021, Global Warming of 1.5 °C
A newly issued flagship report from IEA (International Energy Agency) unveils facts and comes up with projections on the opportunities regarding CO2 Net Zero-emission by 2050.
Before getting into insights and opportunities of this interesting report, do you know what and why is CO2 Net Zero-emission by 2050? You probably heard about the Paris agreement and controlling the global warming of 1.5 °C above pre-industrial levels, which links to the topic of Net Zero-emission by 2050. But why is 1.5 °C, not 15 °C?
Just talking to customers only with jargon and parameters on the data sheet is not enough, they want to understand the root causes and benefits beneath the parameters. You can find the potential impacts of global warming in the report of Global Warming of 1.5 °C from IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change).
Briefly, the impacts and risks include triggering extreme weathers leads to life and property loss, a sea-level rise leads to loss of land of small islands and flooding and damage to infrastructure, impacts on biodiversity and ecosystems such as species loss and extinction, and impacts on fishery industry due to increase in ocean temperature as well as associated increases in ocean acidity and decreases in ocean oxygen levels… etc.
There are many proofs in the report, my point is, sometimes don't try to understand the details, just feel it, and focus on the opportunities ahead. :-)
