For this project we had to research and present an emerging technology of our choice, practicing digital communication skills and presentation skills. Emerging technology are new innovations being developed and expect to flourish in the next couple years. For my emerging technology, I choose bioprinting. I choose bioprinting because a while ago, on a project for animal testing I remembered learning about it; with further research, I decided it was perfect for our topic and interesting to me.
Bioprinting, the two words mean: Bio = Life and Printing = Creating a copy of something. Therefore, creating a copy of life, not exactly. Bioprinting is using 3D printer technology to recreate tissues, cells, and organs that need replacement. Using the method of applying layer-by-layer to replicate human material.
This is an artifact from my PowerPoint; my favorite slide showing the importance and impact of bioprinting becoming a common answer. It shows how bioprinting will change lives and revolutionize healthcare. It is an incredible discovery that can truly change a lot in medical everyday life.
In latest news, researchers are closer than ever to making a real human heart; creating living heart tissue from a patients stem cells. The tissue even mimics real human heart function, further research indicating creating more human material is in the future.
Throughout this project I've learned how emerging technologies like bioprinting have so much incredible potential. For bioprinting, saving lives and transforming healthcare. Other technologies will be able to better many more aspects in life as well. It is important to understand we will forever be innovating even as the bad begins to come. We have the technology to fix old and new problems that may come and pass.
