Unit 4
Digital Privacy & Safety
Digital Privacy & Safety
For this project, we must search for articles with information on different types of cyber-attacks. We're to explore and learn to identity risks that come with being online.
This article is informing the affected patients and others that CarePro Health Services had patient's crucial personal data leaked. There is a 1.3 million dollar class action settlement yet stating no admission, it seems it's cybersecurity was inadequate. This type of attack would be hacking, since a third-party service was accessing information on patients, affecting them and the reputation of the services. For protection, a company should put more effort into securing its customer's information meanwhile customers should research the background and reputation of where they're going.
This article is making it aware Central Jersey Medical Center experienced a ransomware attack. An investigation was opened, turning out to be about 930GB of patient information that was accessed and then encrypted. This type of attack would be ransomware attack, where the person responsible encrypted the data and demands money in return for the information. The medical center is affected since their reputation is at stake meanwhile the patient's could also be worried for their own data's sake. To prevent these types of incidents, companies (especially ones as big as healthcare) should be as safe as possible in protecting their data. Meanwhile the consumers shoul be cautious when picking who to give data to.

The truthfulness and integrity of the facts: The website is an organization and the things referenced in the article such as PDF copy of the claim form.
How is it written and presented: It is written in a professional manner and presented as what seems to be a report document on a website with what it says to be 'lots of legal experience.'

I've learned a lot throughout this assignment. I went through many articles before picking these. I found multiple people, just one person with 100 charges. It's insane to think what an organization could do if one person alone can do this so many times. It is even more shocking to see the types of companies they tend to hack like these healthcare places. It's crazy to think just for going to some medical center you didn't know, now you could have your personal data leaked.
