Unit 3
Digital Media Exploration
Digital Media Exploration
Digital Media is any content created, stored, and accessed online. Digital relating to the use of computer technology, and media referring to medium. Therefore, many different types of art made online. In class, we discussed these definitions, examples of digital media, (text, audio, animation, etc.) and ethics of using such media. For this project, we were assigned to find, explore, and ethically share different types of media. Here I'm going to share different types of media I personally enjoy.
Example: Image
'Fleetwood Mac Reunited' found on Creative Commons. Uploaded on Flickr by Steve Jurvetson. This image was marked with a CC BY 2.0 license.
Example: Animation
Website: Brushninja
Made by myself using the website Brushninja. I created multiple images as I went through to create the illusion of going closer to a rainbow and seeing a shining butterfly.
Example: Audio
Not Supported?
I tried music I had previously downloaded and a new 1 second sound effect. Converted to .WAV, looked it up, still nothing worked. I would like to share that I love downloading music and I have many .mp3 files, especially unreleased music.
Example: Video
Fleetwood Mac performing Dec. 2014, found a link under previous Creative Commons image, taking you to YouTube where it was created by Steve Jurvetson.
There is so many different file types, some even being the same type of media and somehow different, Such as Mp3 and Wav files. I learned embedding, an easier way to basically copy and paste videos into whatever it is you're working on. I've always had a computer in school, so I feel somewhat educated on basics already. However, there is still so much to learn about using a computer and the number of things you can do is just bizarre. It has been fun learning so many things this year and I know I'm bound to end up using these skills again in a future project!
