Research Report

Reflection

The audience for this paper included doctors, businesses in all industries especially the fossil industries, research scientists, residents of areas greatly affected by extreme weather, and those suffering from health conditions that could be caused by climate change. This audience caused me to write the paper from a highly scientific point of view and to cover more of the effects of climate change rather than the causes.

I tired to seamlessly incorporate quotes in, in order to avoid losing the overall tone of the writing. There were several instances where I quotes NASA's website on climate change. I chose to use quotations rather than paraphrase because there was really no better way to say the information than the way they had explained it.

I started off by explaining greenhouse gases based on the information acquired through the NASA page. After this as I began to go into how climate change effects health, weather, ecosystems and the economy, I linked them all back to the emission of greenhouse gases in to the atmosphere.

This assignment allowed me to thoroughly explore the other point of view and better understand where the beliefs come from. A lot of times in arguments, people are so stuck arguing their opinion that they fail to realize and see the other possibilities surrounding the issue. There is rarely only one correct way to look at things.

As previously mentioned, using Rogerian Argument allows the writer to consider varying perspectives and grasp a better understanding of the whole topic. That being said, sometimes arguing both sides, causes you to lose focus from your personal standpoint and argument.
