53. Multi-Lingual Handbill

A campaign flyer for Rockville Mayor Phyllis Marcuccio’s successful bid for re-election in 2011 was issued in three languages to attract different constituencies within the city. The English example, presumably produced in the greatest quantity, was printed on glossy cardstock. Those in Spanish and Chinese were printed on heavy paper. All three are half-sheet in size, double-sided with color text and photos. This group was donated by Mayor Maruccio in 2011.

According to the 2010 Census, the racial makeup of Rockville was roughly 53% white, 10% African-American, 21% Asian (unidentified nationalities), and 14% Hispanic. Seeking the Asian and Hispanic vote, one-third of the population, would make multi-lingual flyers a sound and effective campaign technique.
